Schools Athletics Conference

19 March 2012

UKA is pleased to be supporting a nationwide series of athletics conferences for the school sport fraternity in the coming months.

The Schools Athletics Conference, organised by England Athletics, aims to build a Physical Education legacy by giving a range of practical information on delivering athletics for schools – both within the curriculum and out of hours – and will show how athleticism can enrich the physical education experience for the whole school.

The conference will emphasise the role of athletics in the context of cross-curricular delivery and will see the launch of a brand new cross-curricular resource. It will also show how athletics can be at the heart of strong school-community partnerships.

Keynote speeches will be combined with workshops offering both practical and theoretical approaches, led by experts in the fields of athletics coaching, leadership and education. A number of skills, awards and competition resources, which schools can use to enhance the sporting experience of young people, will be introduced to delegates.

There will also be a chance to visit a wide range of exhibition stands where delegates can obtain
additional information, including how Elevating Athletics can help you bring the sport to life and the
Aviva UKA Academy Awards scheme.

So whether you are a primary/secondary Teacher, Teacher-in-training, School Games Organiser, School Sport Partnership staff, Primary Link teachers and release post, Local Authority Sports Development staff or Athletics club staff and volunteers – this conference is for you!
