SCOTTISH HURDLER'S GUEST APPEARANCE AT THE AVIVA INTERNATIONAL MATCH

26 January 2010

Scottish hurdler Chris Baillie is preparing to take on British and International competition this weekend at the Aviva International Match at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, following his win at the Welsh Championships on Saturday 23rd January.

Reigning Commonwealth Silver Medallist Baillie, who finished 3rd when he competed in the Aviva International Match in 2008, has been invited to compete as a guest and says he is feeling on top form:

“I love coming home to compete on Scottish soil so I’m really looking forward to competing at the Aviva International Match on Saturday. At this event in 2008 I ran my personal best of 7.74 so I’m looking to beat that this time round”.

“Running in front of a home crowd is always great motivation and I’m up against some fantastic athletes from the USA, the Commonwealth, Sweden, Germany and Great Britain and Northern Ireland  teams who will push me all the way. My training has been going really well and I can’t wait to get out on to the track.”

Up against Baillie in the 60m Hurdles is Gianni Frankis (Aviva GB and NI), Philip Nossmy (SWE), Callum Priestley (COM), Helge Schwarzer (GER) and Olympic Bronze Medallist David Oliver (USA).

Tickets for the Aviva International Match at the Kelvin Hall on Saturday 30 January are available by phone on 08000 556 056 or online at www.uka.org.uk
