SEVEN ATHLETES ELECTED TO UK ATHLETICS ATHLETES’ COMMISSION

Following the completion of the election process, seven athletes have been elected to the UK Athletics Athletes’ Commission for a two-year term.

The successfully appointed candidates are Amelia Campbell, Abigail Irozuru, Ethan Kirby, Jess Piasecki, Robbie Britton, Steph Twell and Zac Shaw.

They will join the current members; Hetty Bartlett, Columba Blango, Joe Fuggle, Mhairi Maclennan and Shelayna Oskan-Clarke.

The Commission abide by the principle of striving to promote a healthy and productive relationship between the athletes the Commission represent, and the National Governing Body.

Outgoing UK Athletics Athletes’ Commission Chair, Andrew Heyes said, “I’m really excited by the quality of the applicants we had for the Athletes’ Commission this year. All those that have been successfully elected bring such a wealth of different experiences and representation of so many sides of our sport. Although I’m stepping down as Chair this year, I’m utterly confident that the Commission is in fantastic hands and will continue to push forward with the positive work of previous years. A new Chair will be elected and announced in the coming weeks.

“As always, the Commission represents GB & NI Internationals. We are and will always be receptive to athlete input from outside of the Commission. So please feel free to reach out to the group going forward with thoughts, experiences, and any concerns.”
