Following the completion of the 2021 UK Athletics Athletes’ Commission elections, seven members have been elected.

Hetty Bartlett, Columba Blango, Ashley Bryant (re-elected), Joe Fuggle, Maria Lyle, Mhairi Maclennan and Shelayna Oskan-Clarke all join the Commission, which is chaired by Andrew Heyes replacing the departing Hannah England in the role.

The new members will serve an initial two-year term and join Nathan Douglas, Adam Gemili, Steph Twell and Vanessa Wallace on the Commission.

UKA Athletes’ Commission Chair, Andrew Heyes, said:
“The nominations this year presented us with 14 high quality candidates and saw the largest voting turnout for a Commission election yet. This epitomises the desire to ensure we have a representative and strong athlete voice across out sport. Congratulations to the seven members elected, all who bring a wealth of different experiences to the Commission.

“The sport finds itself with interesting and exciting opportunities going into the next Olympic cycle and the Athletes’ Commission is looking forward to engaging positively with UK Athletics across numerous areas to the benefit of the sport as a whole.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you on behalf of the Commission to those departing members, Holly Bradshaw, Dan Greaves, Richard Whitehead, Stephen Miller, Naomi Ogbeta, and of course our outgoing chair, Hannah England. Each person has worked hard to represent the athletics community and we hope to continue that work to ensure athletics is in the best possible position for both welfare and performance.”
