Less than a week after the IAAF World Championships, a number of GB & NI athletes were in action this evening on the twelfth leg of the IAAF Diamond League. 

After finishing in an impressive fifth place in the 110m hurdles in Moscow, William Sharman (Jerzy Maciukiewicz) continued his fine run of form crossing the line in third place in a time of 13.36.

Shara Proctor (coach: Rana Reider), who finished sixth in Moscow jumped to a best of 6.50m (-2.5) to finish in second place 14cm behind Serbia’s world bronze medallist Ivana Spanovic.

After running under 55 seconds for the first time in her career at the IAAF World Athletics Championships, Meghan Beesley (Nick Dakin) finished in sixth place in 56.22 in a world-class field in the 400m hurdles, which included recently crowned world champion Zuzana Hejnova, who set a meeting record to win the race in 53.70.

In the 1500m ‘B’ race, Matt McLaughlin (Ayo Falola) crossed the line in 3:44.00 for seventh place, while European Indoor 800m bronze medallist Mukhtar Mohammed (Mustafa Mohamed/John Nuttall) took fourth in the 600m in 1:17.45.

World semi-finalist James Ellington (Reider) finished fourth in the 200m in 20.77, while Nigel Levine (Christie) took fifth place in the 400m crossing the line in 46.20. As a late replacement, Richard Strachan (Christie) ran his second race of the night after pacing the 600m, to finish eighth in 47.44.

World 4x400m bronze medallist Shana Cox (George Williams) was fifth in the women’s 400m clocking a time of 52.52, while Chris Tomlinson (Rana Reider) jumped out to 7.87m to finish seventh in a field that featured all the medallists from Russia.
