21 June 2016

With an incredible summer of sport ahead, Strathmore and British Athletics have announced that the bottled water brand will be at the heart of British Athletics’ exciting 2016 major events.

Strathmore will once again be helping to keep athletes and fans hydrated and ready for more success, supplying nearly 40,000 bottles of water to athletes, staff and hospitality at the world-class Müller Anniversary Games in London at the end of July as well as the British Championships this weekend, where Britain’s best athletes will attempt to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Strathmore is at the centre of sport in the UK with a wide ranging programme that supports world class events as well as governing bodies across football, rugby, athletics, cycling and swimming.

The Müller Anniversary Games consists of the prestigious IAAF Diamond League and IPC Grand Prix Final and will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 22-23 July. World record holder Bolt will grace the track at the British Athletics event, along with many of the world’s best athletes and Paralympic stars, before they head to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The British Championships will be held in Birmingham at the Alexander Stadium over three days from 24-26 June. Over 600 athletes from across the country will compete over the three days and more than 20 finals will be settled in a scintillating three hour programme on the Sunday

UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos said: “I’m delighted to welcome Strathmore as our official water of the forthcoming British Athletics events this summer. Keeping hydrated is crucial to the success of athletes at major events and it’s great to have Strathmore, a brand that has a proud association with major sporting events on board.”

Adrian Troy, Head of Marketing at A. G. Barr, said: “We’re proud to be part of British Athletics exciting calendar of sporting events ahead of what promises to be a phenomenal summer of sport. Our sponsorship programme not only helps support the country’s sporting heroes achieve their goals but encourages the development of our stars of the future – from those taking part in events for fun to those who are just inspired to Do More in their daily lives.”
