Team Cuore Triumph In Fantasy Athletics For 2012

17 September 2012

Team Cuore has been announced as the winner of this year’s Fantasy Athletics bought to you by the Aviva Series, after amassing a total of 106 points after the 14 stages of the Samsung Diamond League.

Team Cuore saw off the challenge from over 1,000 teams, selecting four of the Diamond Race winners and three out of the top four scoring athletes on route to victory. Shot putter Valerie Adams top scored with 24 points to secure an unbeaten season for the New Zealander and only Barbora Spotakova’s points tally of 22 points came in between Cuore’s next three athletes – Renaud Lavillenie, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Amantle Montsho.

In what was a closely fought finish, it was just five points that separated the top three teams, with Usual Suspects (102 points) and CAHSE (101 points) taking second and third spot in the standings. As a reward for their season-long consistency, Team Cuore will receive a signed GB shirt with four tickets to the Indoor Athletics Grand Prix in Birmingham on Saturday 16 February 2013. Usual Suspects will receive four tickets and CAHSE two as world-class athletics returns to the West Midlands next year.

Doha will once again kick off the Samsung Diamond League season on Friday 10 May, so keep an eye out as Fantasy Athletics returns to a computer screen near you in 2013.
