The 2026 Prohibited List: What you need to know
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the 2026 Prohibited List, which outlines the substances and methods that are prohibited in sport, following a consultation period with stakeholders.
The 2026 Prohibited List is now live and will come into effect on 1 January.
WADA released the 2026 List on 24 September 2025, giving athletes and their support personnel time to:
- Make themselves aware of the changes to the List
- Review any medications they use
- Apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) to the appropriate organisation, such as UKAD or International Federation, if required
Visit UK Anti-Doping’s website to read a full summary of the changes to the List for 2026 and keep up to date by following @ukantidoping on social media. Please note that, since publication, there has been an update that the withdrawal of blood or blood components (even without the reintroduction of blood into the circulatory system) will also be prohibited in 2026, unless certain exceptions apply.
More information about the change can be found in the article and in the WADA 2026 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes document.
The following resources are also available to read on WADA’s website:
