TOKYO 2021 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC GAMES SELECTION POLICIES RELEASED

British Athletics has republished the selection policies for the postponed Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games updated with the new Olympic marathon trial event.

We can confirm that the Olympic Games trial race is scheduled to take place on 26 March 2021 on a multi-lap course at a London venue which will be confirmed later this month.

The UKA Athletes Commission have supported the process of confirming the Marathon Trial through running a marathon athlete consultation where the date and format of two automatic selections available for athletes who place in the top two with the qualification standard was the preferred option.

In addition, there has been close consultation with the Home Country Athletics Federations to secure a date which would enable athletes to prepare for an Olympic marathon. Our thanks go to all parties who engaged with and supported this process.

The policies can be found here and athletes and coaches are asked to make contact with the specified  point of contact highlighted in the policies should they have any queries.
