Top Technical Officials Tokyo-Bound

With the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony taking place a week today on 24 August, a number of top British technical officials will be finalising their preparations as they look set to take key officiating roles within the athletics programme.

With the London Paralympics Games in 2012, the European Para Athletics championships in Swansea in 2014 and the World Para Athletics Championships in London in 2017, UK officials have amassed some of the highest level experience over the last decade on home soil, making them some of the most sought after in para sport.

The four technical officials representing GB within the stadium from the start of the para athletics on Friday 27th are Dave Jessett as the World Para Athletic Technical Delegate, Alison Jordan as International Photo Finish Judge, Margaret Werrett as International Starter and Jon Mason Chairing the Jury of Appeal.

Following on from Chris Cohen’s role as Competition Director at the Olympic Games, the appointments further demonstrate how highly regarded and experienced UK technical officials are.

Mark Munro, Development Director for UK Athletics said:

“It is great to see UK technical officials selected for the Olympics and Paralympics. The Games are the pinnacle of athlete’s career and it is vital they are manned by the most experienced individuals from around the world.

“Our congratulations go to each and every one of them about to step forward and support athletes on the field of play. Their selection to these roles are proud moments for all concerned and everyone at UK Athletics wishes them the best possible Paralympic experience.”
