It was Turkish delight for the Aviva Great Britain & Northern Ireland team at the 11th European Mountain Running Championships over the weekend.

Two gold medals and one silver were collected in Denizili, Turkey.

Annabel Mason was the sole Aviva GB & NI individual medal success in the junior women’s race. A dominant display from the Wakefield athlete earned the youngster gold. Fellow team mate Melanie Hyder narrowly missed out on a podium place when she finished fourth. However, her disappointment was countered with a team silver medal.

There was also team success for the senior women – Mary Wilkinson, Emma Clayton, Katie Walshaw – who finished fourth, sixth and tenth respectively to win the overall women’s competition.
