UKA have today announced the appointment of two new Directors to the board of UK Athletics from September 1 2016.

Gordon Arthur and Peter Taylor will join the Board of UKA following an open recruitment process as Non-Executive Directors, boosting the board to its maximum number ahead of a busy 2017, in which The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium will play host to both the IAAF World Championships and IPC World Championships.

Arthur held the role of Chief Communications Officer for Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games in 2014 and was instrumental in developing the strategy, values and governance around what was a hugely successful Games.

Taylor is a co-founder of Duke Street, a leading private equity firm which caters to a wide range of companies, and specialises in the leisure sector having previously served as a Non-Executive Director for Leisure Link, Sporting Index and Esporta amongst others.

Arthur, also a Non-Executive Director on the Board for Glasgow Prestwick Airport, said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to the Board of UKA following a successful Olympic Games and with the Paralympic Games and next year’s IAAF World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships in London still to come. I am looking forward to contributing my own thoughts and ideas to the board, as we strive to bring the sport to new audiences, with the over-riding aim of inspiring the next generation of athletes and encouraging participation for all.”

Taylor, a former Group Finance Director for Vardon PLC/Sea Life Centres, now recognisable as Merlin Entertainments, said: "As a lifelong supporter of athletics I am delighted to be joining the UKA Board at this exciting time. I have spent the past 25 years working at board level with leading consumer brands, helping them to develop new growth strategies, and I look forward to bringing this experience to bear in the service of UK Athletics."
