Competition for the key prizes at this year’s UK Athletics Annual Awards Dinner supported by Heidsieck & Co Monopole Champagne is hotting up with the announcement of the shortlisted names for Coach of the Year.

The Shortlist consisting of the top nominees from the regional winners is a unique blend with the names involved successfully coaching athletes from Schools Championships right through to Olympic Games level.

The Shortlist of nominees for the UK Athletics Award of Coach of the year is:

Andrew Beadle – South West

The dedicated middle distance coach to GB International 800m runner James Brewer and English Schools 1500m champion Luke Carroll runs a 40-strong middle distance group at Cheltenham and County Harriers. His group  train to the best of their abilities whilst supporting each other and he constantly looks at ways of enhancing his coaching and athletes performance.

Glyn Davies – Wales

The level 4 coach for Wrexham AAC runs the popular over 13s sprint group at the Queensway stadium. His group consists of a strong mix of Welsh area, British Schools and Celtic Games champions, and continues to produce a conveyor belt of promising sprint talent.

Joe Quinn – Northern Ireland

Joe Quinn is a lead coach for the Junior section of East Down and as well as continuing coach activities plays a pivotal role  in attracting athletes at all levels as well as running road and cross country events, an all round club worker – he spends any free time coaching, officiating and supporting his athletes at competitions.

Mick Woods – South East

Mick has coached at Aldershot Farnham and District for over a decade, and has produced some of the country’s most promising endurance athletes. He guided Steph Twell to the Olympic Games in 2008, Twell and Emma Pallant to World Junior 1500m gold and bronze, as well as a host of other youngsters to national titles on road, cross country and track.
