UK Athletics Commence Recruitment of Two Non-Executive Directors

UK Athletics has commenced recruitment of two non-executive Directors to join the board. The recruitment is to replace two board members completing their respective board terms and departing in the new year.

The planned appointments come at a key time for the organisation which is now under the leadership of new Chair Ian Beattie, who has identified the required skill-sets for the new non-executive Directors.

“The board of UK Athletics has an important role to play in supporting the organisation through the crucial years ahead. It is vital that as well as providing a check and challenge, they are able to support, assist and offer guidance from a position of experience.

“It is for that reason we are keen to encourage applicants with recent and relevant extensive athlete experience in order to increase the expertise on the board, and we will ensure that the Athlete Commission are also involved in the interview process. We are also encouraging applications from women candidates in line with our commitment to the code of sports governance.

“Finally I would very much like to encourage people to consider applying even if they have not previously held a non-executive position. The need for board experience can be an unnecessary barrier to excellent candidates and at such an important time for UKA it is essential we bring in the right talent at board level.”
