UK Athletics has today confirmed plans to link with Charity Partner, Right To Play, in hosting a women’s networking event on 15 March 2018.

The event at BlackRock, London – held one week after but in celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March) – is an evening of networking and discussion to explore the importance of role models and to make the most of the opportunities they present.

Chaired by former athlete and now UK Athletics’ Vice President and Equality, Diversity & Engagement Lead Donna Fraser, the panel will also feature World Championship medallist 4x400m relay runner, Laviai Nielsen to talk about the profound impact strong role models have had on her life.

In addition, athletics coach Coral Nourrice, will explain the important part coaches play in championing individuals and Right To Play Deputy Chair, Leslie McCormack Gathy, will discuss how role models are transforming opportunities for the girls and boys in Right To Play programmes across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The event, in partnership with Right To Play ensures UKA continues its commitment towards celebrating and encouraging equality and diversity.

Right To Play UK National Director, Nikki Skipper, said: “Right To Play Women’s Network champions the cause of disadvantaged girls who, through the educational power of sport and play have the chance to improve their prospects. We train volunteer coaches to run weekly sessions with children, instilling positive life messages. Our coaches are role models for the children and wider community alike.”
