UK ATHLETICS TO COMMENCE RECRUITMENT OF HEAD OF PARA ATHLETICS WORLD CLASS PROGRAMME

UK Athletics has confirmed it will commence recruitment of a new Head of the Para Athletics World Class Performance Programme next week to replace outgoing Head Coach Paula Dunn.

The recruitment process which was momentarily paused during the recruitment phase for the Technical Director last year will open once more, and the Para programme structure will also be supported by a number of changes to key roles within the team:

  • Paula Dunn has moved into a part time role, continuing to support the staff on the Para programme and as a key point of contact providing continuity for a number of athletes.
  • Katie Jones has moved into the role of interim Para Performance Lead, responsible for how the WCP engages and supports the athletes and coaches.
  • Amanda Evans is Paralympic programme manager responsible for how the WCP operates for para and leads on the relationships with BPA, IPC, UK Sport.
  • Sarah Benson continues in her key role working with Talent development as the Pathway manager.
  • Katie, Amanda and Sarah will be supported and line-managed by Steve Paulding – now the Performance Head of Operations (https://www.uka.org.uk/news/news-and-features/technical-director-update/)

UKA Head of Performance Tommy Yule said:

“I am pleased to confirm the staffing structure and support for the Para WCP as we look for our next Head of Programme.

“Continuity this year is crucial as our athletes are just two years out from the 2024 Paralympics, and we have the right people in place to ensure consistent support across the disciplines.

“Recruiting the right person to lead the programme through to 2024 and beyond is essential, but we also have a talented group of performance staff who will ensure great support for our para athletes during this transition, and I know they will work tirelessly throughout.”
