UK ATHLETICS UPDATE ON 2026 UKA 10,000M CHAMPIONSHIPS
UK Athletics (UKA) is committed to supporting the domestic endurance pathway following the cancellation of the 2026 edition of the Night of the 10,000m PBs.
Work is already underway to identify an alternative date and location for the 2026 UK 10,000m Championships. Further details will be shared once arrangements are confirmed.
It is important to have a high-quality domestic championship opportunity for athletes targeting major events, a vital role in the endurance pathway, and providing athletes with opportunities to achieve qualification standards for major championships selection.
To give athletes greater clarity and flexibility, changes have also been made to the European Championships selection policy relating to the 10,000m.
While any 2026 championship event would continue to operate as a trial race, it has been confirmed that participation will not be mandatory for athletes to remain eligible for European Championship selection. The revised approach is designed to support athlete planning and provide multiple options for achieving qualification standards.
UK Athletics are committed its long‑term support for domestic 10,000m racing and for providing meaningful competitive opportunities for endurance athletes.
