UK Challenge Bigger And Better

Athletes will be boosted in the quest for UK Challenge points this summer with the announcement that the Birmingham Games, on the 20th July, will be added to the qualifying rounds for the UK Challenge final, being held at Eton on the 9th August.

The venue of this year’s Aviva UK Championships and Olympic Trials, Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium, will host the event, having already hosted several events this season, including the highly successful Field Fest 2008 last month.

Inclusion of the Birmingham Games on the UK Challenge calendar will not only give athletes an extra chance to gain points on their attempts to qualify for this summer’s final, but also allow UK Athletics working in partnership with the Midlands Counties Athletic Association to raise the bar of domestic competition available to competing athletes on the circuit. Athletes can look forward to a prize fund of £100 for first place in and event, and £75 or £50 for second and third respectively.

If you are an athlete looking to compete at the Birmingham Games, entry open until Friday 11th July 2008, by contacting event organiser Lyn Orbell on 0121 344 4201 or athletics@mcaa.org.uk
