UK Challenge Goes UK-wide!

The UK Challenge goes pretty much nationwide this weekend with prizes and points on offer for performances at no fewer than five important events:

  • Northern Ireland and Ulster Senior Championships at Antrim Forum on Saturday 16 June (finals start at 2pm);
  • Bank of Scotland Under 20 and Under 23 Championships at Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh on Sunday 17 June (10am);
  • Midland Championships, which have attracted more senior entries than in recent years, at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, on Sunday 17 June (10am);
  • Northern Championships at Wavertree Stadium, Liverpool, on both 16 and 17 June (11am). To read the official preview please click here
  • South of England Championships at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, on both 16 and 17 June.

The Scottish Championships will feature triple jumpers Jayne Nisbet (U20), Nony Mordi (U23) and possibly Gillian Kerr (Senior, guesting) going head-to-head and striving to climb above their current UK Challenge rankings of 10th, 9th and 8th respectively. James Campbell (U20 but already the Scottish Senior record-holder) will have the opportunity to improve on his current sixth place in the javelin.

Northern Ireland’s biggest track and field meet of the year will feature Eva Massey, who broke Mary Peters’ 40-year-old NIR shot record at the Loughborough International and who will represent Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the European Cup next weekend.
