UK Members Council Resignation

22 February 2008

UK Members Council (UKMC) Vice President Mike Winch has announced his resignation from the Council with immediate effect. The UKMC, a body elected by the sport, acts as the custodian of the long-term interests of athletics and undertakes the statutory functions required of the ‘members’ of UK Athletics, such as appointing directors including the Chief Executive and Chair.

Commenting on the resignation, which came just ahead of Mr Winch’s end of term, UKMC President Lynn Davies said:

"I would like to thank Mike for serving on the UKMC for almost four years and wish him well with his continued involvement in the sport. We will now press ahead with the election of a new Vice President to serve during what will be a hugely exciting time as we prepare for a home Olympics in 2012. I am proud of the fact that the Council is a body elected by the sport for the sport and is truly representative of the diversity of athletics and I look forward to getting the election process in full swing."

Further details of the election process will be available on www.ukathletics.net in due course
