UKa Anti-Doping Announcement

22 July 2011

For Immediate Release

UKA has today announced that Bernice Wilson has been provisionally suspended from all competition after being charged with having committed anti-doping rule violations.

The provisional suspension, issued by UK Anti-Doping and which came in to effect on 9th July 2011, is as a result of a sample which was collected from the athlete in-competition at the Bedford International Games on 12th June 2011. The sample was found to contain the anabolic steroids testosterone and clenbuterol.

The athlete now has the opportunity to respond to the charge against her, including the right to a full hearing of the case.

UK Anti-Doping is an independent body responsible for all anti-doping programmes and the management of violations and disciplinary issues in the UK. UK Anti-Doping is fully supported by the rules of the IAAF and of UKA.
