UKA APPOINT ENDURANCE STRATEGY MANAGER

UK Athletics has confirmed that Chris Jones has been appointed to the role of Endurance Strategy Manager. Jones, who has been working as a National Coach for Welsh Athletics whilst working alongside UKA’s endurance team over the last 18 months will commence his new post for UKA at the start of November.

As Endurance Strategy Manager, Chris Jones will oversee the UK endurance strategy, working collaboratively with the Home Country Athletics Federations (HCAFs) and World Class Programme (WCP) Endurance Performance Manager, Steve Vernon to ensure the pathways for endurance across the UK are aligned and working effectively, including in relation to the Futures and the WCP.

Within the three day a week role, he will also lead and manage UKA’s responsibilities for off-track and non-Olympic programme endurance events including cross county, mountain and ultra.

He will remain working on a part time basis with Welsh Athletics endurance team for two days a week.

UKA Technical Director Stephen Maguire said:

“His responsibilities will include supporting our many off-track disciplines and athletes which span much wider than the World Class Programme ensuring a proper cohesive approach across the UK.”
