Following successes and celebrated performances by their current athletes and with impressive careers within the sport, four UKA coaches have been named on the newly launched European Athletics’ Coaches Roll of Honour.

The roll of honour recognises and celebrates the service to athletics given by coaches at all levels of the sport. In addition to those whose athletes win European Championship gold medals in the future, coaches who have demonstrated excellence in coaching and made valuable contribution in other ways will be added to the list.

Named in the 56-strong list were:

UKA Olympic Coach Lloyd Cowan: Has a large group that works out of the UKA National Performance Centre in Lee Valley and includes Olympic gold medallist Christine Ohuruogu and European Champion Andy Turner.

UKA National Event Coach Malcolm Arnold: Has had a long and celebrated career coaching many of the world’s top hurdlers and sprinters, including Colin Jackson. His group is based in Bath and includes recent Commonwealth Games medallists Dai Greene, Rhys Williams and Lawrence Clarke.

UKA National Event Coach Aston Moore: Former triple jumper who is based in Birmingham and works with World and European Champion Phillips Idowu and previously coached current UK and former World Indoor record holder Ashia Hansen.

UKA National Events Coach Toni Minichiello: Coach to World and European heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis and rising combined events stars World Youth champion Katarina Thompson and number one junior decathlete Daniel Gardiner. Toni splits his time between Sheffield and Loughborough.

Ricky Simms, coach and agent of double European medallist Mo Farah, was also honoured. Simms is a director of Pace Sports Management and also works closely with a number of African athletes.
