Uka Staff Become Mental Health First Aiders

20 June 2018

On Friday 1st June, three members of UK Athletics staff joined England Athletics employees on a Workplace Mental Health First Aid training course.

The one-day mental health awareness and skills course qualifies delegates as MHFA Champions. The session was built around a Mental Health First Aid Action plan.  MHFA Champions have an understanding of common mental health issues; knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness; ability to spot signs of mental ill health and skills to support positive well-being.

Clean Athletics Manager, David Herbert said: “The training was really well presented, interesting and thought-provoking. Training such as this is a great way of working towards the normalisation of looking after mental health in the same way that we already consider physical health.”
