UKA STATEMENT - JIM EDWARDS

UK Athletics are saddened to learn of that Jim Edwards passed away on Sunday 14 August.

 

Jim coached a number of throwers across Olympic and Paralympic sport during his coaching career, including coaching Dan Greaves to Paralympic gold in 2004. His work in the Paralympic Futures Academy over the last few years has seen several athletes benefit from his expertise and continue to develop in the sport, coaching Paralympian, Lydia Church to European silver in 2021, and mentoring many athletes and their coaches as they progressed in the sport.

Based at Loughborough for a number of years, Jim was part of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and England team staff for several Championships and Games across Olympic and Paralympic sport.

UK Athletics CEO, Jack Buckner said,

“Our thoughts are very much with Jim’s family and friends at this time. Jim was a highly popular and respected figure in the sport and his passing is a big loss to the athletics community in the UK.
