UK Athletics intend to organise a British Marathon Championship that will include the Olympic trial during spring 2021. We are currently exploring possible venues in late March or early April.

Given the nature of several enquiries, for clarity the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon (to be held on Sunday 4 October) will be an opportunity for any athletes competing to attain the Olympic qualification standard but competing in it is not a pre-requisite for selection for the Olympics. There will be no pre-selection following the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon and selection will take place following the trial in 2021.

As soon as the venue and dates are confirmed for next year’s British Marathon Championships and Olympic trial a further communication will be made.
