Venues Revealed For Third UK School Games

7 February 2008

UK Athletics today announced that Bath and Bristol will be host venues for this year’s UK School Games, to be held in September.

The acclaimed multi sporting youth event, now in its third year, has successfully aided in the development of prospering athletes, providing them with a replica professional event at which to compete.

Within athletics Joe Bloomfield (Ipswich Harriers) and Ashlee Nelson (City of Stoke AC) both paid testimony to the ideals of the Games last year.

Bloomfield won the hammer and continued in good form throughout the year to finish 11th in the 2007 Power of Ten under 20 rankings and Nelson, who dominated the 100m, has been heavily tipped as an international prospect.

The event will feature the best children of school age from all over the UK competing in a range of sports; however, it is not a competition for schools versus schools.

A number of new developments and sports have been added to the 2008 programme. Details of these, plus venues to follow.
