The 2011 SPAR European Cross Country Championships took place in Velenje, Slovenia, on Sunday 11 December and were the highlight of the month from a continental perspective.

The Aviva Great Britain and Northern Ireland team topped the medal table for the fourth successive year at the European Cross, while British athletes put in some final performances before the Christmas break at the indoor events.

UKA is pleased to announce that Emelia Gorecka, Emma Pallant and Holly Bleasdale are included in the seven women nominations for the European Athlete of the Month Award for December, organised by European Athletics. 

The voting will close on 18 January at noon CET.

The European Athlete of the Month initiative was launched in January 2007 and is designed to recognise outstanding performers at all levels of the sport in Europe.
