7 March 2012

February is the busiest month of the year for indoor athletics – including six European Athletics Indoor Permit Meetings – and this month’s European Athlete of the Month nominations reflect this.

2011 European Athlete of the Year, Farah, set a European indoor two-mile best of 8:08.07 and was clocked at 3000m in a European-leading 7.37.40 at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on 18 February, while Levine ran a personal best and European-leading time of 45.71.

Jessica Ennis has also been nominated for the women’s Award after running what was then the fastest time in the world this year (7.87) in the 60m hurdles at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on 18 February.

The voting will close on 16 March at noon CET.
