Marathon runner Dave Webb (coach: Bud Baldaro) has withdrawn from Team GB through injury.
 
Webb has been suffering with a stress fracture and undertook a fitness test at the Dartford Half Marathon, which he did not pass.
 
Therefore the BOA Chief Medical Officer, in conjunction with the UKA doctor and Team GB Chef de Mission, have announced his withdrawal from the team on medical grounds.
 
The BOA will not be nominating a replacement athlete in the men’s marathon. Scott Overall and Lee Merrien will be Team GB’s marathon athletes on August 12.

“We wish Dave the very best in his recovery and applaud him for offering his continued and full support to his athletics teammates,” said Team GB Chef de Mission Andy Hunt.
