10,000m UK Championships, Watford – 14 June

Jo Pavey (Exeter Harriers) will defend her title at the 10,000m UK Championships, with tough competition from GB teammates.  

Hayley Yelling (Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow), winner in 2006, continues on her Olympic quest as she aims for the qualifying mark of 31:45:00. She came close in Holland two weeks ago and needs no reminding that she missed the standard—in this race—by 0.14 in 2004.

Key athletes competing in the men’s event are Moumin Geele (Newham & Essex Beagles), Phil Nicholls (Tipton) and Anthony Ford (Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde). Nicholls and Ford, top two from last year’s event, return in great form.

Leiden, Holland – 14 June

Emily Freeman (Wakefield Harriers), who was recently named in the European Cup 4x100m squad, will compete in the 100m.

Andrew Marsh (City of Stoke) competes in the pole vault, no doubt looking for the World Junior Championships qualifying mark of 5.20m.

U23 athlete David Greene (Swansea Harriers) is set to line up in the 400m hurdles.

Janusz Kusocinski Memorial Meeting, Warsaw – 15 June

U23 athlete Richard Hill (Notts AC) will compete in the 800m in Poland as he continues to test his form in the run up to UK Championships and Olympic Trials in Birmingham in July.

Christian Malcolm (Cardiff AAC) continues his run of international competitions still in search of a 10:21 Olympic qualifying time.

Znamenskiy memorial, Zhukovskiy – 15 June

Jeanette Kwayke (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) will make an appearance in the 100m. Already having secured the Olympic A standard last month in Hengelo, Kwakye will use this competition as preparation for Beijing.

8th Royal Leamington Spa Grand Prix of Race Walking – 15 June

In the women’s 20km event, Jo Jackson (Redcar Race Walking Club ) who has been on sparkling form in the last few months will be competing in her last 20km before she competes for the British team in Beijing.

In the Men’s 20km Daniel King (Colchester Harriers AC) will lead the English team in the Anglo-Celtic Cup. He will look build on his Olympic B standard performance for the 50km that he recorded earlier this year.

Josef Odlozil Memorial Meeting, Prague – 16 June

Andy Turner (Sale), currently top of the British rankings, will continue his Olympic preparations competing in the 110m hurdles.

Simeon Williamson (Highgate Harriers) continues his summer season in anticipation of a place at the Olympics, competing in the 100m.
