Golden League – Bislett Games, Oslo Norway- 3 July

Mo Farah (Newham & Essex Beagles) starts in the men’s 5000m tonight and it promises to be something special especially when Kenenisa Bekele, Olympic 5000m/10000m champion and world record holder is in the field. Farah will be looking to get close to David Moorcroft’s long standing British record of 13:00.41.

In the 110m hurdles, Andy Turner (Sale) has been in good and he will face the European champion Stanislavs Olijars from Latvia. Simeon Williamson (Highgate) will line up alongside former world record-holder Asafa Powell from Jamaica and Olympic fourth placer Churandy Martina in the 100m while Jeanette Kwakye (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) is due to compete in the women’s 100m. Helen Clitheroe (Preston) will face a strong field in the 3000m steeplechase including Kenya’s Ruth Bisibori, whilst Colin McCourt (Dindee) competes in the 1500m.

Christine Ohuruogu (Newham & Essex Beagles) will face her first major test of the season over 400m with US champion Sanya Richards in the field as well as Olympic silver medallist Shericka Williams and Olympic fourth placer Yuliya Gushchina.

Cork City Sports- Cork, Ireland- 4th July

British Olympians Montell Douglas (Blackheath & Bromley) and Abi Oyepitan (Shaftesbury Barnet) have been added to the start lists for the 100m at the Irish event. They will line up against 10.77sec sprinter Ivet Lalova from Bulgaria and Irish national athletes Kelly Proper and Niamh Whelan.

Andrea Bliss from Jamaica goes head to head with previous winner, Beijing Olympic finalist Sarah Claxton (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) and former US champion and World Championship finalist, Jenny Adams (USA) in the 110m hurdles. All these athletes have run well under 13 seconds on numerous occasions so fast times will be the order of the day.

 Madrid International- IAAF Grand Prix 4th July

One of the most thrilling races of the evening will be the men’s 100m with the presence of Portugal’s Francis Obikwelu, Nigerian Olusoji Fasuba and Britain’s Mark Lewis-Francis (Birchfield).

Britain’s World Indoor silver medallist Chris Tomlinson (Newham & Essex Beagles) will take on Olympic long jump gold medallist Jahir Saladino and  South Africa’s Olympic silver medallist Godfrey Mokoena.

Britain’s new national record holder Kate Dennison (Sale), who jumped 4.55m at the recent Spar European Team Championships in Portugal, will compete in the Pole Vault against Russia’s Aleksandra Kiryashova, who set a career best of 4.62 in Villeneuve d’Ascq earlier this week and former World record holder Stacy Dragila.
