Weynay Ghebresilasie (Shettleston Harriers) and Rose Harvey (Phillip Kissi, Clapham Chasers) were the top British finishers in the elite men’s and women’s races in London, while David Weir and Eden Rainbow-Cooper (both, Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy) earned third-place finishers in the elite wheelchair races.

Rose Harvey, who was forced to withdraw from the World Athletics Championships marathon with cramp in July, ran the second quickest time of her career as she earned a top 10 finish in the capital. She ran 2:27:59 on her way to 10th while Steph Twell (Aldershot, Farnham and District) was the next Briton across the line from the elite women’s start in 12th in 2:39:16. Hannah Alderson (Alan Thomas, Yate) was the second fastest British woman overall, setting off from the mass start and finishing in a time of 2:35:56.

Marcel Hug (SUI) and Daniel Romanchuk (USA) dominated the men’s wheelchair elite race, but David Weir showed his quality as he outsprinted Tomoki Suzuki in the final 150m to earn third position in a time of 1:30:41.

Similarly, Eden Rainbow-Cooper was involved in a sprint for the line with a pack of eight athletes and held on for third position; places third to ninth were separated by just five seconds. The time of 1:47:27 was also a significant PB for the Commonwealth medallist.
