Metropolitan League, Stevenage – Sunday 9 November

Michael Callegari (coach: Nadeem Shaikh) was the victor in a thrilling finish at the Metropolitan League as four athletes finished within three seconds of one another. The Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier had the superior sprint finish as he edged John Beattie (Gavin Smith), Nicholas Torry and Kevin Seaward to the line recording a time of 25:29.

In the women’s race Rachel Felton (Christopher Frapwell) won ahead of Gemma Kersey (Eamonn Martin) over the 6km distance. Felton made it a double for Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers in the individual senior competitions in Stevenage.

Scottish National 4km Cross Country Championships, Glasgow – Sunday 9 November

Andrew Butchart (Derek Easton) continued his impressive winter form as he was the quickest man on the day over the 4km course in a time of 12:08.

Rhona Auckland (Joyce Hogg), U23 team gold medallist at the European Cross Country Championships last year, put in another good display as she was the quickest woman in a time of 13:38 in Glasgow, finishing ahead of Commonwealth 1500m finalist Laura Muir (Andy Young) who was third recording a time of 13:55.

Birmingham & District Invitation Cross Country League Division One, Leamington – Saturday 8 November

Ed Shepherd (Richard Thurston) ran out as the winner on the muddy Leamington course for the University of Birmingham in a time of 33:01. Jake Wightman (Geoff Wightman) who competed for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, finished in third place for Loughborough University in 33:52.

Hampshire League Cross Country, Chichester – Saturday 8 November

Two weeks out from the IAU World 100km Championships in Doha, Steve Way raced at the Hampshire Cross Country League in Goodwood, finishing 11th in a time of 28:28. The Commonwealth Games marathon runner was just under a minute behind the winner, Jermaine Mays representing Basingstoke & Mid Hants.

Kent League, Hayes – Saturday 8 November

Abel Tsegay (Peter Mullervy) dominated the U20 men’s race in Hayes winning by a clear margin recording a time of 15:52.

Nicole Taylor (Richard Owen) won the senior women’s race for Tonbridge with a time of 18:37 at Sparrow’s Den. The U20 athlete stepped up her performance to finish nearly a minute ahead of Mel Frazier.

Manchester Area Cross Country League, Sherdley Park, St Helens – Saturday 8 November

Elle Vernon (Steve Vernon) took a convincing victory in St Helens as she won by nearly two and a half minutes in a time of 28:44.

Charlie Hulson (Paul Roden), a member of the senior men’s 2013 European Cross Country team, won the men’s race in the North West. His time of 31:18 edged him ahead of Gavin Hill (Roden) and Bertie Houghton (Barry Barnes), the latter was the first U20 men’s finisher on the day.

Surrey Men’s League Division One, Croydon – Saturday 8 November

Paskar Owor won a highly competitive race ahead of Ireland’s Paul Pollock in a close finish. Owor finished four second ahead in a time of 25:49 to take the victory for Belgrave.
