Trafford 10km, 8 March

Jonny Davies (coach: Rob McKim)made his debut over 10km on the road a race to remember, as he won the fast and flat Trafford 10km in a time of 29:18. His race victory was hard fought as he finished just one second clear of Ben Lindsay who settled for second place and a personal best. David Nilsson was third in a time of 29:45 to round off the podium places in Greater Manchester.

Alyson Dixon won the women’s top prize in a lifetime best of 32:30, with Ellie Kirk (Tony Houchin) running the race of her life to produce a personal best of 33:15 to take some notable scalps in Trafford. Melissa Courtney (Mark Pauley) was third in 33:32 with experienced GB & NI international Helen Clitheroe in fourth recording 33:41.

Welsh International, Cardiff, 8 March

Luke Cutts (Trevor Fox) won the pole vault event in Wales with another 5.50m jump to continue his consistency this year. He finished ahead of Andrew Sutcliffe (Christian North) who claimed second place on count back ahead of world youth indoor record holder, Adam Hague (Fox) who both jumped 5.30m.

Aled Davies (Ryan Spencer-Jones) endured an equipment malfunction during the competition but the Welsh team captain still managed a throw of 15.81m, which is down on his best ever throw.

Chris Stone (Alastair Abrams) equalled the meeting record in the 60m with a 6.80 clocking in the U20 event, and later was a guest in another 60m and ran a fraction quicker clocking 6.79. However, Rechmial Miller (Ryan Freckleton) improved upon Stone’s earlier time in that race to set a new meeting record of 6.78.

Semi Marathon de Paris, France, 8 March

Matthew Hynes (Stan Markley) ran the best half marathon of his career in Paris recording a time of 63:54 to finish tenth in Paris. The Gateshead Harrier will look to continue his road running form over the spring.
