Former European Junior 200m champion Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (coach: Dennis Shaver) stormed to victory in the 200m final in 20.57, the fastest time in the world this year and the quickest indoors by a Briton since 2003. The 21-year-old, who won by a margin of 0.13 also, clocked 20.89 in the heats.

Reigning British indoor high jump champion Allan Smith (Bryan Roy) opened his 2016 indoor season with a victory in France. The Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier cleared 2.26m.
Tom Parsons (Aston Moore) and David Smith (Fuzz Caan) both jumped 2.14m, placing eleventh and twelfth respectively.
IAAF Cross Country permit meeting, Elgoibar, Spain, Sunday 24 January
There were a number of athletes competing in Spain with full England teams taking part on the undulating course.
The junior races saw a number of people make the podium including Mahamed Mahamed (Peter Haynes) and Stephen Ferroni (Jon Bigg) who placed second and third in the junior men’s race behind France’s Hugo Hay. Gemma Holloway and Lucy Pygott (Mick Woods) matched that feat in the junior women’s race.
Jenny Nesbitt (David Walker) led the England contingent in the women’s race finishing 11th, one place ahead of compatriot Rebecca Murray. Jonny Taylor (Gordon Surtees) was 13th in a highly competitive senior men’s race.

Reykjavik Indoor Games, Reykjavik, Iceland, 23 January
Veteran sprinter Dwain Chambers opened his 2016 indoor season with a 60m victory in 6.86. It was the 37-year-old former world and European indoor 60m champion’s first competitive outing since June last year.

Andrew Sutcliffe (Christian North) finished joint third in his section with a clearance of 5.33m – 3cm shy of his season’s best
Rod McCray Memorial, Lexington, Kentucky, USA, 22-23 January
Competing for his US University, Louisiana State, Tim Duckworth (Toby Stevenson) racked up a best indoor heptathlon score by a British teenager. The 19-year-old won with 5695 points. His individual scores were: 60m, 7.01; long jump, 7.45m; shot, 11.27m; high jump, 2.12m; 60m hurdles, 8.49; pole vault 5.00m; 1000m, 3:02.02.

Cardiff Met Grand Prix, Cardiff, Cardiff, 23 January
Steve Morris (James Thie) broke the UK T20 indoor 1500m record with a time of 4:01.40, his best time since 2014.
Chris Baker (Sharon Heveran) won the high jump with 2.24m, 2cm short of his season’s best.

Former Commonwealth youth champion Jade Ive (Allan Williams) won the senior women’s competition in 4.06m, a 1cm improvement on her three-year-old indoor best. Rachel Gibbens (self-coached), who heads the 2016 UK rankings with 4.10m, and Henrietta Paxton (self-coached) both vaulted 4.00m.
Gran Canaria 10km, Gran Canaria, 23 January
Commonwealth bronze medallist Jade Jones (Ian Thompson/Tanni Grey-Thompson) won the women’s section of the 10km wheelchair race at the annual Gran Canaria Marathon meeting in 26:52. Callum Hall (Ian Thompson) finished third in the men’s section in 26:43.

Dubai Marathon, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 22 January
There was double British success in the wheelchair races in the heat of Dubai. John Smith (Jenny Archer) took the men’s T54 title in 1:35.56. Rob Smith was the second wheelchair competition home in 2:02:17. Megan Dawson-Farrell (Ian Mirfin) won the women’s section in 2:03.30.
