Adidas Boost Boston Games, Boston, 18-19 June

Jake Wightman (coach: Geoff Wightman) ran his fastest time of 2016 to finish fifth in 3:36.64 missing the Olympic qualifying standard by just four-hundredths of a second. Lee Emmanuel (Joe Franklin) was four places further back in ninth place as he crossed the line in 3:38.04.

After battling illness in the build-up to the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs, where she finished sixth, Jo Pavey (Gavin Pavey) came agonisingly close to securing the Olympic qualifying standard in the 5000m. Aiming for her fifth Games, the 42 year old clocked a time of 15:24.74, which was outside the required time of 15:24.00.

Tiffany Porter (Rana Reider) continued her preparations for this weekend’s British Championships with a victory on the streets of Boston, clocking 12.94 (0.0m/s) and in the process taking the scalp of USA’s Sharika Nelvis.

Brussels Grand Prix, Brussels, Belgium, 19 June

Adam Gemili (Steve Fudge) showed that he is coming into form at the right time running as he ran 20.37 (-0.3), inside the Olympic qualifying standard of 20.50. The Olympic semi-finalist will be looking to be at his very best in Birmingham this weekend, where he is likely to face a formidable line-up.

Meeting Elite d’Herouville Saint-Claire, Herouville Saint-Claire, 16 June 

Multiple British champion Dwain Chambers ran his second fastest time of 2016 winning the 100m in 10.29 (+0.5), but remains just outside the European qualifying standard, which stands at 10.25. Chris Baker (Sharon Heveran), who leaped to the top of the UK high jump rankings earlier this year with a lifetime best of 2.36i, was also victorious in France with a clearance of 2.26m.

Budapest Open, Budapest, Hungary, 18 June

Chris Bennett (Mick Jones) added a metre to his lifetime best to come within 55cm of the qualifying standard for the Olympic Games. Bennett”s throw of 76.45m takes him to sixth in the UK all-time rankings, two centimetres ahead of his coach’s mark set back in 2001.

In the women’s event, Sarah Holt and Myra Perkins (both John Pearson) were sixth and eighth respectively, with Perkins throwing a season’s best of 60.97m.

Memorial Janusza Kusocinskiego, Szczecin, Poland, 19 June

In her fourth competition of the year, Sophie Hitchon (Tore Gustafsson) recorded her furthest throw of the year in the hammer with a distance of 71.86m, her third Olympic standard in 2016. Michael Rimmer (Jon Bigg) leapt to the top of the UK 800m rankings with a season’s best time of 1:46.13 to finish third behind home favourite Marcin Lewandowski, but was just 0.13 outside the Olympic standard.

Copenhagen Athletics Games, Copenhagen, Denmark, 18 June

Nigel Levine (Linford Christie) put down his fastest 400m of the year finishing second in his heat in 45.89, where he saw off competition from British rivals Conrad Williams (Lloyd Cowan) and Theo Campbell (James Hillier), who both crossed the line in 46.02.
