With a multitude of League races across the UK (results still to published in many instances) in addition to the opening event of the 2011/12 McCain UK Cross Challenge Series in Bristol, it was otherwise a relatively quiet weekend.

There were wins for Gemma Kersey (coach: Eamonn Martin) and Mark Shaw (Steven Shaw) in the under 20-races, but the the leading British senior women’s run came from Hannah Walker (Bud Baldaro) who was eighth in 26:20 for the 7.8km event. She was the second European behind Ireland’s Finn Britton in a race won by former World 10,000m champion Linet Masai of Kenya, a three-time World Cross Country Championships runner-up, in 24:20.
The leading British man was James Walsh (Mike Baxter), who finished 29th in 29:34 for the 9.807km event which was won by World 10,000m bronze medallist Imane Merga in 27:21.
