Rieti, September 9

Brits were out in force in this a popular event for posting fast end-of-season times. Andrew Osagie (Craig Winrow) and Hannah England (Bud Baldaro) were both third in the men’s 800m and women’s 1500m respectively.

Nigel Levine was fourth in the 400m in a solid 45.48, whilst Eilish McColgan (Liz McColgan) crossed the line in 9:11.35 when she ventured out over the flat 3000m.

National Junior League Final, September 9

Adam Gemili was the pick of the performances with a 20.38sec 200m performance to head the McCain Power of 10 rankings for 2012, and become the fastest Brit over the distance for some three years

It followed his 10.21 over 100m also at the event.

IAU 24 Hour World and European Championships, Katowice September 8

Aviva GB & NI put in some strong performances in a highly competitive World and European Championship this weekend, with two team and two individual medals coming back to the UK.

Emily Gelder covered 154 laps of the course to take a superb World Bronze medal, finishing in 25th position in the entire race, plus a silver in the European field. Her performance led the GB trio including team mates Debbie Martin-Consani and Sharon Law to the same medals at part of the team race.

Although there were no medals for the Aviva GB & NI men, they performed solidly to take seventh spot in the team competition against the World’s best, and ranked fifth best team in Europe. Patrick Robbins taking a respectable 11th position in the European field, and 13th within the World championship race.

Brussels, September 7

The top British performance came from Perri Shakes-Drayton (Chris Zah) who finished second in 53.89, which is close to her 53.77 PB and McCain Power of Ten ranking topping performance. The Briton beat Olympic medallist Zuzanya Heznova into third.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Michael Khmel) was seventh in a top class 200m won by Yohan Blake. The Briton timed 20.85.

Martyn Rooney (Nick Dakin) was fifth in the 400m in 45,56.

Double Olympic top 8 placer Julia Bleasdale (Nic Bideau) struggled in the final kilometre in the 5000m and drifted back to 11th in 15:16.63.

Lawrence Clarke (Malcolm Arnold) had a rare off-day in finishing ninth in the 110m hurdles, which was won in a sensational world record 12.80.

In the women’s 800m, Lynsey Sharp (David Sunderland) finished eighth in 2:01,49 while Jemma Simpson (Mark Rowland) was eighth in 2:01.78.

Roverto, September 4

Former world junior champion Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Michael Khmel) finished fourth in a season’s best of 10.20/1.0 which puts him fourth in the McCain Power of Ten rankings.

Olympic 1500m runner Andy Baddeley (Andrew Hobdell) moved up to 5000m and finished sixth in 13:41.01.

Zagreb, September 4

Olympic finalist Lawrence Okoye (John Hillier) had one of the best discus wins of his career. He threw 67.25m, his third best ever competition to beat a few who had beaten him in the Olympics and go within a metre of his British record. It was his 24th competition over 60 metres this summer.

Martyn Rooney (Nick Dakin) won the 400m in 45.78.

British record holder Shara Proctor (Rana Reider) won the long jump in 6.79m/0.3.

Anyika Onuora   (Christine Bowmaker) finished fourth in the 200m in 23.17/-0.2 and Marilyn Okoro (Ayo Falola) was third in the 400m in 52.65.
