Bad weather caused the cancellations of a number of events on road and track and the major focus was on the superb performances of the GB & NI team in Poland but there were a few additional highlights.

Midland Counties Indoor Open, Birmingham, March 23 March

World junior long champion and Olympic heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson (coach: Mike Holmes) showed good early season from as she high jumped 1.84m and long jumped 6.14m, in her first competitions at those events this year.

SIAB Schools International cross-country, Dinefwar, Wales, March 23

England dominated the event and won the four team events but Inter Counties champion Jac Hopkins (Kevin Tobin) gained a clear victory in the Inter Boys race. He became the first Welsh winner of the event for 36 years.

English schools champion Ben Dijkstra won the junior boys race while Bronwen Owen won the Inter Girls race.

Katy Ann McDonald (Phil Kissi), the National and Inter Counties minor girls champion, pulled off a narrow win against girls mostly a year older when she won the junior girls event.
