In another quiet weekend, the highlight came from two English victories in the IAU World 50km Trophy Final.

Steven Way came through strongly over the closing miles to win the men’s race in 2:53:41.

Dave Mitchinson was sixth in 3:10:54, Marxus Scotney seventh in 3:15:19, and Julian Rendall eighth in 3:15:34.

Paul Martelletti – winner of last weekend’s UK Half Marathon Championships after gainining UK citizenship in September, but running for New Zealand on this occasion – was third.

There was a British one-two in the women’s race with Helen Taranowski winning in 3:30:43 from Emma Gooderham (coach: Norman Wilson) in 3:33:32, while Joasia Zakrewski was fifth in 3:47:51.
