Scottish Senior Championships, Scotstoun, 10/11 August

At the Scottish Championships, European Junior silver medallist Nick Percy (John Hillier) broke the Scottish junior record with a senior implement throwing 55.84m, just 16cm shy of the Scottish Commonwealth Games standard.

Jax Thoirs (Pat Licari) set a Scottish native record with a 5.25m clearance in the men’s pole vault in challenging conditions, whilst guest Isabel Pooley (Fuzz Ahmed) was within 2cm of her personal best in the high jump with a 1.88m clearance.

On the track, there were victories for Steph Twell (Mick Woods) in a very close 1500m final, whilst Guy Learmonth (George Gandy) edged out European Junior 1500m Champion Jake Wightman (Geoff Wightman) by just five hundredths in a very close 800m final.

BMC Gold Standard Races, Stretford, 6 August

Earlier in the week, Wightman set an 800m personal best of 1:48.01 to go top of the Power of 10 junior rankings. In the 1500m, Jack Crabtree (Blake Ellis) took two seconds off his personal best to run 3:47.20 to top the under-17 rankings. Charlene Thomas (Aaron Thomas) also took a good chuck off her 1500m personal best with a 4:03.95 clocking to go second in the women’s rankings.

BMC Gold Standard Races, Watford, 7 August

European under-23 1500m silver medallist Charlie Grice (Jon Bigg) set an 800m PB winning in 1:47.22, to go fifth in the Power of Ten rankings.  Caelidh Ross (William Alan Winter) ran a 800m PB of 2:06.63 to go second in the under-17 girls rankings. Meanwhile Gus Cockle (Mick Woods) went second in the under-17 1500m rankings with a 3:51.81 personal best performance.
