British Athletics Jumps & Throws Festival, Bedford, August 17/18

Isabel Pooley (Fuzz Ahmed) extended her lead at the top of the Power of Ten courtesy of lifetime best jump of 1.91m to win the women’s high jump. Her performance also broke the stadium record.

There was also victory and a Power of Ten topping throw for junior Benji Pearson (David Parker) in the javelin. The GB & NI junior international recorded a best throw of 71.76m to extend his lead at the top of the junior rankings by over a metre.

In the men’s shot put, Zane Duquemin (John Hillier) just missed his ranking topping 19.42m set in Sweden last month, with a 19.40m victory.

BMC Regional Races,  Eltham, August 14

Matt McLaughlin (Ayo Falola) smashed his personal best and became the sixth British junior to break 1:49.00 this year, which was the European Junior Championship ‘A’ standard. McLaughlin clocked 1:48.97 to finish second behind European under-23 1500m silver medallist Charlie Grice (Jon Bigg) who won the Sydney Wooderson men’s 800m in a personal best 1:47.93, to go fifth on the senior rankings.

Katie Snowden equalled her season’s best over 800m when finishing second in 2:05.62, consolidating her third place in the junior women’s Power of Ten rankings.
