Sainsbury’s School Games, Sheffield, September 13/14

In the shot, Adele Nicoll (coach: Andy Brittan) smashed through the 14m barrier for the first time with a huge PB of 14.33m, which puts her well over a metre clear at the head of the Power of Ten under-17 rankings.

Ben Robbins (David Goodall) won the 400m in a PB of 48.28 to increase his lead at the top of the UK under-17 rankings.

Katie Purves (Goodall) won the 300m hurdles in 42.66 to go second in this year’s rankings.

In the 1500m steeplechase, Michael Bartram (Gordon Palmer) improved his PB and UK leading mark from when he won the English Schools to 4:20.01.

In the pole vault, Abigail Roberts (Trevor Fox) equalled her PB of 3.80m, which puts her second in the Power of Ten under-17 rankings and beat the UK leader Ellie Gooding (Derek Laws) on countback.

Kerri Davidson (John Vernon) won the triple jump with a PB 12.32m which puts her second in the UK rankings.

Emma Hamplett (Mark Pinner) won the javelin in a PB 47.22m to improve her lead at the top of the UK lists.

Two members of Britain’s World Youth Championship team had very easy wins though outside their best of the year.

Morgan Lake (Eldon Lake) won the high jump in 1.82m while Shannon Hylton (John Blackie) won the 200m in 23.87/0.8.

Philadelphia Half-Marathon, September 15

Andrew Lemoncello finished 10th in 64:36 which puts him third in the Power of Ten Rankings.

Bristol Half-Marathon, September 15

The first three women all ran faster than the quickest Brits in the BUPA Great North Run. 43 year old Emma Stepto (Alan Rowling) won in a huge PB of 73:40 which puts her sixth in the Power of Ten rankings and she led in Lorna Russell (Nick Anderson) who broke 75 minutes for the first time with 73:57 and Tish Jones who was third in a PB 74:07.
