Weekend Update

Midland Counties Open, Birmingham, January 11-12 

A high quality men’s high jump competition was won by Italian Marco Fassinotti with a clearance of 2.28m. Tom Parsons (coach: Aston Moore) was the leading Brit in second with 2.22m, which goes top of the Power of Ten rankings.

GB & NI junior international Chris Kandu (John Herbert) set a new outright personal best of 2.19m, which sets him up well for a successful 2014, where his focus will be on the IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, USA.

At the same meet, Julian Reid (Moore) went top of the triple jump rankings with his 16.13m victory.

Seivashypyn Talvikarnevaali, Pajulahti, Finland, January 11

Max Eaves (Steve Rippon) showed a return to form clearing a season’s best 5.55m, his best vault since 2011, to take victory in Finland.

Aubiere, France, January 12

Luke Cutts (Trevor Fox) finished third in the pole vault with a season’s best of 5.66m to go top of the power of ten rankings.

Cardiff Met Grand Prix, Cardiff, January 12

18 year old Lucy Bryan (Charles Preston) made a winning start to 2014, going straight to the top of the Power of 10 rankings with a vault of 4.10m.

Another 18 year old, David Omoregie (Mike Guest), also showed good form clocking an almost two tenth personal best of 7.92 over the senior hurdles.
