BUPA Great Edinburgh 10 mile, April 27

Chris Thompson (coach: Alan Storey/Mark Rowland) quickly returned from his successful marathon debut at London with a victory in 49:36 which puts him second in the Power of Ten rankings. There was also a successful return to action for Olympic marathoner Lee Merrien (John Nuttall) who finished second in 49:54 and moves to third in the rankings.

European cross-country silver medallist Gemma Steel (Nuttall) won the women’s race in 56:06 to also go second on the Power of Ten. Runner-up was Susan Partridge (Steve Jones) and her 56:25 clocking puts her fourth in the rankings.

UK Youth Development U17/U20 League Division Southern Premier 1, Norwich, April 27

Double European Junior champion Dina Asher-Smith (John Blackie) recorded a sprint double, winning the 100m in 11.49/-2.6 and the 200m in 23.08/-0.6, the latter a personal best and the fourth fastest time ever by a British junior. This 200m performance puts her top of the Power of Ten rankings.

European Junior Championships finallist Shona Richards (Marina Armstrong) opened her season with a personal best and a World Junior Championships qualifying standard of 57.91.

Drake Relays, Des Moines, USA, April 26 

World Championships bronze medallist Tiffany Porter (Rana Reider) finished fifth in a top class 100m hurdles in 12.71/0.2 to go further clear on the Power of Ten rankings and again easily better the 13.00 European Championships qualifying standard.

Steve Lewis (Dan Pfaff) achieved the best UK outdoor vault of the year with his second place in 5.70m, which also betters the European qualifying mark of 5.60m. A few days earlier, he had jumped 5.71m indoors, which puts him second in the overall rankings.

Clermont, USA, April 26

Paralympic silver medallist Stef Reid (Reider) set a T44 long jump world record courtesy of a 5.45m jump.

Promising junior Desiree Henry (Reider) ran inside the British 100m senior record of 11.05, winning in 11.04 but the wind was well over the limits at 3.1mps. Jodie Williams (Christine Bowmaker) was second in 11.13. Henry, who tops the junior women’s rankings,  ran a legal 11.25/0.6 in her heat.

Bianca Williams also ran 11.25/1.5 in her heat which is a personal best and puts her third behind Williams and Henry on the Power of Ten rankings and betters the 11.30 European qualifying mark.

Anyika Onuora (Reider) won her 200m heat in 22.92/1.6 to go second on the Power of Ten and better the 23.10 European qualifier.

Over 400m, Emily Diamond (Dan Cossins) set a lifetime best of 52.32 to finish second and go top of the Power of Ten rankings.

James Ellington (Reider) went top of the Power of Ten 100m rankings with his European Championships qualifying mark of 10.13/1.5 which placed him second in his race. There was a personal best for Danny Talbot (Cossins) who ran 10.17/1.4 in his heat, also inside the Zurich qualifying mark of 10.20.

In the 200m Ellington and Talbot went head to head, both just missing their personal bests but gaining qualifying marks of 20.44/-0.3 and 20.48 respectively. The performances put them one-two on the rankings. In a separate heat, World Indoor 60m champion Richard Kilty (Reider) was third in 20.73/1.4 to go third on the outdoor rankings.

Martyn Rooney (Reider) was just outside his seasons in winning the 400m in 45.75. Two time Olympian in the decathlon Daniel Awde (Chris Zah) continued his progress over 400m with a 45.96 personal best to win a different heat, which puts him third on the Power of Ten outdoor rankings.

GB & NI junior Elliot Rutter (Cossins) set a new lifetime best of 47.27 to win his 400m heat, putting him top of the Power of Ten junior rankings.

Former European and current Commonwealth champion Andy Turner (Lloyd Cowan) was second in the 110m hurdles in 13.47/2.0 to go top of the Power of Ten rankings and better the European standard of 13.50. Alex Al Ameen (Reider) smashed his personal best for third in that race, his 13.54 clocking putting him second on the Power of Ten.

Kola Adedoyin (Frank Attoh) set a PB in winning the triple jump with 16.61/0.0 to go third overall on the Power of Ten.

San Diego, USA, April 26

Teenager Nicholas Percy (Vesteinn Hafsteinsson) won his discus event in a personal best 58.01m which puts him third in the overall rankings.

Loughborough Open Meeting, April 26

Benji Pearson (Dave Parker) set a 3 metre lifetime best in his opening competition of 2014 thanks to a 74.71m winning throw. This puts the GB & NI junior top of the Power of Ten rankings. 

In the women’s javelin, Izzy Jeffs (Parker) also set a big personal best with a 58.63m throw.
