Charnwood AC Open Meeting, 

World and Paralympic silver medallist Dan Greaves (coach: Jim Edwards) broke the British record in the F44 discus with a throw of 60.12, putting him in pole position for a podium position at this summer’s Commonwealth Games and IPC European Championships. 

World T38 100m gold medallist Sophie Hahn (Joe McDonnell) continued her strong start to the season with a 13.35 clocking.

English Schools Championships, Birmingham, July 11/12 

James Whiteaker won the Intermediate boys javelin in a British under-17 record of 77.12m. It added over four metres to his PB and three metres to David Parker’s UK best.

Rebekah Walton (Barry Hawksworth) set a UK under-15 best with the 500gm javelin with a win in the junior girls event with a throw of 43.23m.

Taylor Campbell (Paul Dickenson) won the senior boys hammer and went top of the Power of ten rankings and second under-20 all-time with the 6kg hammerwith a 74.42m throw.

Amy Griffiths (Mick Woods) won the Senior Girls 1500m in a PB and championship record 4:15.08. Griffiths, who runs for Britain in the upcoming World Junior Championships consolidated her position at the top of the Power of Ten Under-20 rankings.

Tyrese Johnson won the junior boys 100m in a championship record 10.91 to go third in the UK all time under 15 lists.

Jona Efoloko (John Smith) who tops the Power of Ten Under-15 rankings at 100m, ran the 200m and having run 22.14 this year, he equalled that time with a windy 22.14/2.9. The UK under-15 record is 22.13.

Ryan Gorman (David Hourd) won the Inter Boys 200m in 21.53/1.9, which puts him top of the Power of Ten under-17 rankings.

Shannon Hylton (John Blackie) warmed for the World Junior Championships with a seven metre victory in the 200m posting a time of 23.80/-2.5 into a strong headwind.

In the junior boys 300m, Joseph Massimo set a British under-15 record of 35.21 beating previous record holder Chenna Okoh (Gavin Town) into second and he timed 35.63 to go second in the all-time lists with automatic timings.

In the intermediate girls 300m, Ella Barrett (Daniel Duke) went top of the Power of Ten rankings for under-17 girls with a win in 38.65.

Owen Richardson (John Davis) won the Intermediate boys 400m in 48.32 which puts him top of the under-17 men’s rankings.

Jake Norris (Dickenson) won the Intermediate boys hammer in a Under-17 UK ranking topping PB of 66.99m.

Katie Lambert (Steve Pearson) won the Inter Girls hammer with a PB of 46.77m to go top of the under-17 girls rankings while Katie Head (Paul Head) won the junior girls event with a throw of 54.96m to go top of the 2014 list and second all-time and just 41 centimetres off the British record.

Jude Compton-Stewart (Ashley Fox) won the junior boys javelin with a throw of 52.93m, to better 50 metres for the first time and go top of the under-15 rankings.

Sophie Merritt (David Callaway) won the Inter girls discus with a PB of 44.46m to top the under-17 rankings.

Divine Oladipo (John Hillier) won the Inter girls shot with a throw of 14.92m, which placed her second all-time in the under-17 rankings.

Naomi Ogbeta (Tom Cullen) took gold in the Inter girls triple jump with a PB of 12.05m/-0.3 to top of the under-17 rankings.

In the triple jump, both junior boy Ben Harris (Daniel Sawyers) and Inter boy Kebin Metzger made big improvements to win in PB to go top of their age group rankings with respective 13.41/-0.7 and 14.59/-0.2 jumps.

Steven Jones went top of the under-15 high jump rankings with his junior boys win with 1.90m.

Junior long jumpers Joe Walker (Daniel Duke) and Holly Mills (James Coney) won the their events with respective leaps of  6.66/0.0 and 5.76m/-0.9 to go top of the under-15 lists.

Joshua Lindley-Harris (Trevor Fox) won the junior boys pole vault with a PB 3.75m to top the under-15 rankings.

Rueben Cole (Derek Wilcox) achieved first place in the Inter boys 400m hurdles and ran 54.57 when he hadn’t broken 56 seconds before Birmingham to top the under-17 rankings.

Steeplechasers intermediates William Battershill and senior Holly Brown (Charlotte Fisher) and Jamaime Coleman (Andy Bibby) all set PBs and set respective ranking topping performances at 1500m with 4:18.38 and 4:57.28 and 2000m with 5:51.63.

Esther Adikpe (Paul Herrington) won the junior girls 75m hurdles into a headwind with a time of 11.21/-2.0 to head the under-15 rankings.

Max Pearson won the junior boys 1500m in 4:06.50 to move to to the top of the Power of Ten under-15 rankings.

Budapest, July 8

Former world 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene (Malcolm Arnold) returned for his first race since August 2013 and finished with a win crossing the line in 49.89.

It places him sixth in the Power of Ten rankings but just outside British Athletics’ European Championships standard of 49.80 Michael Bingham (George Williams) finished second in the 400m in 45.49.

Cork, July 8

Helen Clitheroe (self-coached) finished fifth in the 3000m in 9:03.95 to better the British W40 record held by Joyce Smith for 36 years.

Rabah Yousif (Carol Williams) was close to his season’s best in winning the 400m in 45.48, and was again inside the European Championships standard of 45.70.

David Smith (Ken Allan) was close to his best of 2.25m in the high jump with a second place in 2.24m.

In the hammer, just 29 centimetres covered the three leading Brits, who are  in England’s Commonwealth Games team and all highly ranked for Glasgow.

Alex Smith was third with 70.05m, Nick Miller (John Baumann) fourth with 70.02m and Amir Williamson (Malcolm Fenton) fifth with 69.76m.

Cardiff, July 12

Brett Morse (Andy Brittan) won with a throw of 63.34m to go top of the Power of ten rankings and surpass the European Championships standard of 63.00m.

BUPA Great North Run 10k, Newcastle, July 13 

Power of Ten 10km top-ranked Gemma Steel (John Nuttall) continued her run of form with a win in 32:45.

The second woman was Commonwealth Games marathoner Susan Partidge in 33:16, which puts her fifth in the Power of Ten rankings.

BMC Grand Prix, Stretford, July 12

Anthony Whiteman set a new World Masters M40 record over 800m winning the A race in 1:48.05. It was his fastest time for 11 years.

Close behind, teenager Matthew Fayers (Stevan Dokic) took over 0.7 of  second off his PB with 1:48.12.

Jack Crabtree (Norman Poole) ran 3:44.52 in the 1500m in 11th place to go second in the Power of Ten under-20 rankings.

Rhede, Germany, July 11

Winning by a second, Emily Diamond (Daniel Cossins) set a new 400m PB of 51.95 which puts her top of the Power of Ten rankings and betters British Athletics European Championships standard of 52.00.

Dublin, July 11

Luke Cutts (Trevor Fox) , who broke the British record with an indoors vault of 5.83m in January, set his best mark outdoors this year when he won with a vault of 5.50m.

Commonwealth steeplechaser Rachael Bamford (Mike Baxter) went top of the Power of Ten ranking in the one mile with a PB of 4:32.35 which placed her fifth.

Dulwich College, July 11

Clare Elms ran 4:58.7 for the mile to better the World W50 record of Dane Gitte Karlshoje of 5:00.59 and become the oldest woman to ever break five minutes..
