Weekend Update

NCAA Cross Country Championships, Indiana, USA, 19 November

Amy-Eloise Neale was the pick of the British athletes in action across the pond at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, on an afternoon where upsets were the story of the day. Capping off a fine cross country season, the GB international steeplechaser was to the head of the field throughout, finishing just 17 seconds down on surprise winner Karissa Schweizer.

San Francisco Uni’s Charlotte Taylor claimed an impressive 10th ahead of compatriots Alice Wright and Calli Thackery (both coach: Joe Franklin), who finished 19th and 28th respectively. Elsewhere 1500m specialist Rhianwedd Price (Houston Franks) produced her best performance of the winter when it mattered most to take 32nd in 20:21

In the men’s race over 10km Luke Traynor (Dudley Walker) produced one of the runs of his life to finish an impressive 13th place, crossing the line in 30.08. Just three seconds and two places further back came Arkansas’ Alex George (Paul de-Camps), whilst San Francisco’s Alex Short (Philip O’Dell) crossed the line just two seconds but seven places later.
