NRW Gala Bottrop, Bottrop, Germany, 8 July

In her first race since the Commonwealth Games in April, Asha Philip (Steve Fudge) showed solid form, winning her heat in 11.25 (1.4) before finishing third in a competitive final in 11.21 (0.3), equalling her season’s best set down under. Emily Diamond (Jared Deacon) was also in action, second in the 400m in 52.58.

BMC Grand Prix, Eltham, 7 July

In a women’s 800m with an international flavour, Katie Snowden (Rob Denmark) prevailed in a fine 2.01.75 season’s best, less than a second down on her personal best set last summer. The men’s 1500m saw 800m man Spencer Thomas (Jon Bigg) knock two seconds off his lifetime best with a 3.43.84 winning run, some five seconds clear of his nearest rival. In the 3,000m races there were victories for Jonny Hay (Mick Woods) and Jennifer Nesbitt (David Walker) in 8.06.06 and 9.11.37 respectively, the latter a personal best.

UK Women’s League Premier Division, Grangemouth, 7 July

Just a week on from the Müller British Athletics Championships Zoey Clark (Eddie McKinna) took the 400m at home in Scotland in 52.81, while Aisha Naibe-Wey (Willie Randolph) set a season’s best of 58.11 to win the 400mH.
