Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow AC Winter Series, Eton, 5 March
Joseph Dewar (Gladys Bird) returned to competition after a 9 month layoff, clocking an impressive 6.58 personal best to get the better of Greg Rutherford (Dan Pfaff) who, working on his speed, crossed the line in 6.75.

Scottish Athletics Indoor Combined Events Championships, 4/5 March
Ben Gregory (Aston Moore) broke the Welsh indoor heptathlon with a score of 5834. It is his second personal best during this indoor season, but a big improvement to his score from January this year.
A personal best of 1.99m in the high jump was just one of a series of strong events for the Birchfield Harrier.

Welsh Athletics Indoor International, Cardiff, 5 March
Hannah Brier (Steve Fudge), who saw her training partner Asha Philip storm to the European Indoor title on Sunday, edged talented youngster Amy Hunt (Joe McDonnell) over 60m, clocking 7.44 to Hunt’s 7.45, just 0.02 outside the latter’s personal best.
Four-time European para athletics bronze medallist Jordan Howe (Keith Antoine) opened up his season in Wales over 60m, stopping the clock at a lifetime best of 8.16.
Adele Nicoll (Vladimir Zinchenko) threw an indoor shot put personal best of 16.09m to win the women’s shot put, whilst Jude Bright-Davies (David Johnson) broke the U20 meeting record with a 15.46m leap in the triple jump.
The pole vault competitions were particular lively, with British indoor champion Jade Ive (Allan Williams) once again overcoming home favourite Sally Peake (Scott Simpson) to win on countback. Both cleared 4.26m but one failure at 4.21m to Ive’s clear record on the height, made the difference in the overall result.
In the men’s equivalent, Luke Cutts (Trevor Fox) and Adam Hague (Fox) shared the victory after clearing 5.35m with identical scoring cards, with junior Joel Leon Benitez (Alan Richardson) third after clearing 5.25m.
England Athletics Race Walking Championships, Coventry, 5 March
Tom Bosworth (Andi Drake) in his first road event since his brilliant sixth place in the 20km walk in Rio, clocked a comfortable victory in 40.20 to take the England Championships on a windy and wet day in Coventry.
In the women’s equivalent, Wales’ Bethan Davies (Drake) who has recently returned from a training and racing stint in Australia took victory in the open race in 46.07, whilst Gemma Bridge (Mark Wall) took the England title with a big new personal best of 47.07.
Bosworth fresh from his British Record over 5000 metres indoors in Sheffield at the British Indoor Team Trials, set the early pace, closely followed by his training partners from the National Race Walking Centre in Leeds IAAF World Junior Champion Callum Wilkinson (Mick Graham) and Cameron Corbishley (Drake). At the venue he set his British Record of 39.36 two years ago, he set off on sub 40 minute pace. He soon established a lead over Wilkinson and Corbishley and passed halfway in sub 20 minutes but backed off in the second half to clock 40.20, a time that only himself and Chris Maddocks have bettered.
Bosworth said: “It was good to get back out competing on the road and this sets me up nicely for my 20km season debut in 2 weeks in Lugano in Switzerland”.
Behind him Wilkinson clocked his second fastest time ever to take the England silver medal in 40.49. Corbishley removed a big chunk from his PB which previously stood at 43.05 on the road and 42.18.94 on the track from last year to clock 41.26 to take the bronze medal in the England Championships, as he moved to 9th equal on the UK All Time list.
The performances of the three male medallists equated to the highest quality domestic 10km ever staged in the UK and bodes particularly well for the trio over 20km.
Chris Snook (Verity Snook) went to top of the UK U20 rankings with his 46.37 just outside his PB from 2016 as he finished fourth ahead of fellow U20 Tom Partington (Coach: Steve Partington) 47.32.
Trafford 10k, Manchester, 5 March
Chris Thompson (coach: Mark Rowland) was in fine form as he took victory in 28.55, on a new revised course. Thompson, who is deep in marathon training ahead of London in April, showed things are progressing well, as he finished well clear of the field. Richard Horton (Peter Bailey) was a fine second in 29.27, with Andy Maud third just one second back.
In the ladies race, Elinor Kirk (Steve Vernon) crossed the line in 33.29, ahead of Alyson Dixon who clocked 33.40.
